About

Ben Paul and Silka Gebhardt created Neu Architects in 2004 as an architectural consultancy to bring together talented and likeminded artists, architects and designers from a range of professional design backgrounds to collaborate on a large variety of projects.

Our Philosophy

Our aspiration is to bring new ideas to the urban realm and realise innovative design solutions within budget, timescale and with close attention to the client. We offer a professional service from conception to completion and have proven success in delivering high quality, innovative and commercially successful designs in the private and public sector.

We enjoy developing project briefs with clients, users and the creative team and use this knowledge to inform the design process. We aim to be sensitive to the re-quirements of a client and welcome contributions from the community. It is our ex-perience that an intelligent and well developed inter- change with the project’s community and client helps enormously in the creation of cherished, unique and celebrated built spaces.

As well as working with multi-faceted client groups, a diverse range of user groups and public constituencies, we are comfortable making presentations to the public, press and funding organisations. Neu are committed to pursuing environmental sustainability and review all con-struction techniques, materials and long term operation/maintenance as part of our design process. Our recent shortlisted competition design for Rotherham proposed a unique carbon negative scheme.

Our process of continual analysis, scrutiny and rigorous criticism ensures that throughout the development, the project’s design, functionality and integrity is given the utmost importance.

Awards

We were shortlisted for the Rotherham Cafe Competition, part of the Rotherham Westgate Demonstrator Project in 2006 and won the Pennine Lancashire Squared Competition for the town of Bacup in 2009 and our work has featured in many magazines and books around the world.
